AVA
Eola-Amity Hills
Elevation
475 feet
Cases

A tiny polygon of just under an acre within our high elevation vineyard in the Eola-Amity hills bring us this consistently nuanced wine. A thin layer of topsoil sits over alterated basalt consisting of highly degraded vesicular igneous rock. Just over a meter below sits bedrock. The heavily pitted vesicular rock fractures easily through weathering, root growth and biological activity releasing treasure troves of accumulated mineral nutrients, water, and microbiology. Aromas for this pinot incorporate dry minerals with hints of dried rose petals, notes of hibiscus flower and fruit along with red raspberry. The flavors are unyielding, but highlight ripe tart black cherry, red raspberry, and cherry pits. Herbaceous thyme, marjoram, and oregano coincide with delicate wild mushrooms as well as an underpinning of earthy clean minerals. Explore the soil layers →
